Gilda Tainow
Gilda Schwartz Tainow of Coconut Creek, Fla., died March 8, 2015, weeks before her 93rd birthday. Born and raised in Newark, she lived in Irvington and Union until 1984, when she retired to Coconut Creek.
Mrs. Tainow was employed by Hazel Bishop cosmetics and Adler Royal Business Machines as director of sales statistics.
She was a 1940 graduate of Newark’s South Side High School.
She was active in the Order of the Golden Chain, serving as Matron of Newark link in 1956, and in Union Deborah, chairing several committees. At Wynmoor at Coconut Creek, she was active in community activities, including serving as president of Aruba Celebrities and membership vice president of Wynmoor Hadassah.
Predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Harold, in 2012, she is survived by her son, Jon (Terry Willner) of Westfield; her daughter, Nancy (Howard) Wimmer of Merion, Pa.; a brother, Leonard Schwartz of Boynton Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 11 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
