Gloria “Schnookie” Lowenstein, 90, of West Orange died May 7, 2016. Born in Newark, she moved to South Orange before living in West Orange for 63 years.
Mrs. Lowenstein worked for some years in her mother’s (Janet Flax) business, John A. Roberts, before retiring to raise her daughters.
She graduated from Columbia High School, Maplewood. She attended University of Wisconsin and later graduated from Upsala College, East Orange.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert; three daughters, Debbi (Max) Lebersfeld of Short Hills, Dorrie (Joel) Greenberg of Short Hills, and Margie Snyder of Chester; a brother, Walter Flax; a sister, Simone Lipton; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 9 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Maplewood. Memorial contributions may be made to Daughters of Israel, West Orange.
