Graduating high school seniors awarded scholarships
THE NATIONAL COUNCIL of Jewish Women, Central Jersey Section, recently awarded the Francine Scheier Memorial Scholarship to five graduating high school seniors from area schools. The award was established to honor the memory of the founder of the Central Jersey section. Francine Scheier was a librarian for many years and was, among many other positions, the editor of the organization’s award-winning Bulletin. Scheier was also engaged in community affairs. This year’s recipients and the high schools they graduated from are Alexandra Anronikov of Howell High School; Kaylee Connors of Raritan High School; Ryan Deahl of Matawan High School; Meghan Kryscnski of Marlboro High School; and Briana Pereira of Old Bridge High School. The award recipients are determined by submission of an essay describing the student’s community service and scholastic achievement. Funding is provided by the section and Laurence Scheier, Francine’s son.
