Henrietta (Chick) Breslow

Henrietta (Chick) Breslow, 92, of Red Bank died Sept. 28, 2011. Born in New Brunswick and raised in Highland Park, she moved to Red Bank in 1942 and resided in her home since 1946.

Mrs. Breslow had battled cancer for 50 years.

Together with her husband, Izzy, she founded Breslow’s News Service, working with him and later with her son Michael. She was also employed as a civilian clerk for the Department of the Army, retiring in 1983.

After her retirement, she served as a volunteer at the Central Jersey Blood Bank, Shrewsbury, for over 25 years.

She was a member of Congregation B’nai Israel, Rumson, and a founder and past officer of its sisterhood. She was a life member of Hadassah.

Predeceased by her husband, Israel H., and their six-week-old son, Lawrence Alan, she is survived by two sons, Michael of Wayside and Paul of Hillsboro, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held Oct. 2 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Oakhurst. Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, the Cancer Support Community in Eatontown, or a charity of choice.
