Herbert Bresky
Herbert Bresky, 100, of Boca Raton, Fla., died Dec. 7, 2019. Born in Elizabeth, he grew up in Newark and lived in Livingston for 35 years before retiring to Boynton Beach and Boca Raton, Fla.
For 30 years, Mr. Bresky owned the Argyle Food Market in Orange and Livingston.
He was in the first graduating class of the new Weequahic High School in Newark in 1936.
He served in World War II in the 169th Infantry as a staff sergeant. He served in New Guinea and in the invasion of the Philippines, where he was awarded several citations and the Bronze Star.
Predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Gertrude (Saffer), in 2009, and a son, Rabbi Jan Bresky, he is survived by two sons, Mark of Succasunna and Scott (Gail) of Randolph, and six grandchildren.
