Herbert Bunis

Former Greater MetroWest CFO Herbert H. Bunis, 83, of Lakewood died Oct. 24, 2014. He lived in Cranford for 36 years before moving to Lakewood in 1988. 

A certified public accountant, Mr. Bunis worked for the J.B. Williams Company, Inc. for 20 years. He retired as the chief financial officer of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, where he worked from 1986 to 1998. 

He was a member of Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim in Cranford, serving as men’s club and synagogue president. He was a member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Toms River, where he was an active participant in its daily morning minyan. 

Predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Marilyn, in 2003, he is survived by his daughter, Ruth (Brian) Kerr of Toms River; two sons, Marc (Jill) of Howell and Joel (Lisa) of New River, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 26 with arrangements by Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, Toms River. Memorial contributions may be made to the Educational Endowment Fund of Congregation B’nai Israel.
