Herbert Heller

Herbert Heller, 82, of Mountainside died Sept. 1, 2012. Born in Newark, he lived in Livingston for 31 years.

Mr. Heller was a partner in the family business, J. Heller & Sons. He also was the cofounder of Saturn Engineering. He retired in 2009.

He graduated from Columbia High School, Maplewood, in 1947 and Rider College in 1951 with a BS in business administration.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He transformed his passion for photography into Prestige Photography of Mountainside. He was the founding member of The Livingston Camera Club and also collected and operated O Gauge Electric Trains.

He was a member of Temple Emanu-El in Westfield for many years and was a founding member of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Stein Nelson); two sons, Marc of Roslyn Heights, NY, and Martin of Livingston; three stepchildren, Stacey Bain of Short Hills, Jodi Fekete of Springfield, and David of Ocean Grove; two sisters, Natalie Heller Barnicle of Baltimore and Nancy Heller Goldberg of Cincinnati, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 4 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
