Herbert Rudnick
Herbert Rudnick, 81, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died June 24, 2011. Born in Newark, he resided in West Orange and Florham Park before moving to Florida in 1997.
Mr. Rudnick was a partner at Wiss & Company of Livingston, retiring in 1996. He had been a certified public accountant for more than 40 years and was a founding partner of Wiss & Company when the firm of Goldberg, Nechemie & Co. merged with Wiss, Pachman & Co. in 1969.
He had been an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was a recognized expert in the field of matrimonial accounting. He had lectured before the Trial Lawyers of New Jersey and had participated in the Institute of Continuing Legal Education Workshop on such topics as equitable distribution, valuation of the closely held business, and legal aspects of divorce and separation.
He received his accounting degree from Rutgers University.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was an active member of the Republican Party in New Jersey and served as treasurer of the inauguration committee of former Gov. Thomas Kean. He was also a member of the Essex County Republican Finance Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arleen (Kersner); two daughters, Amy Lynn of Orlando, Fla., and Cathy Fonseca of Springfield; a son, Peter of South Orange; his sister, Mildred Hitman of Elberon; and two grandchildren.
Services were held June 27 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, West Palm Beach, Fla.; or the American Lung Association, Washington, DC.
