Howard Rose
Howard L. Rose, 90, of Light House Point, Fla., formerly of Deal, died Aug. 22, 2012. He was born in the Bronx.
Mr. Rose had a long career in many New Jersey businesses, most notably as the owner-operator of the Cypress Inn restaurant from 1967 to 1983 in Ocean. He also partnered in the Cat’s Pub, Loch Arbour, and Water Witch, Highlands.
He served his country as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He enjoyed boating and fishing, taking his friends out until he was 89. He had his captain’s license and was an active member of the United States Power Squadrons. He was also an inventor and had a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
He is survived by two sons, Andy of Ocean and Richard of Maine; two grandchildren; and his former wife, Joan Rose of Delray Beach, Fla.
Services were held Sept. 4 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Miriam Youth Group, 180 Lincoln Ave., Elberon, NJ 07740.
