Hyman JCC names new president
Stephen Levy of West Deal is the new president of the Ruth Hyman JCC of Greater Monmouth County in Deal.
Levy, the CEO of a risk management insurance and consulting firm, said in his youth, the local Jewish Community Center “was the heart of the community, and a place where all Jews, regardless of their diverse backgrounds and affiliations, came together as one. One of my missions as the new JCC president is to instill this same passion within our own community, and bring in new families who have no idea how much they are missing.”
Operating the JCC’s many programs in these difficult economic times presents many challenges, said Levy, but despite these challenges, “we are committed to continuing to serve the needs of our members.” Like many nonprofits, he said, “we are facing declining income and increasing expenses, which places a great strain on our budget, as well as on our dedicated staff.”
“We welcome volunteers with expertise to come forward and take an active role in the future of the JCC,” Levy said. “Committed volunteers help spread the message that joining the JCC and enrolling in JCC day camp will enable the JCC to continue to provide all its wonderful services to our children, and eventually to their children and grandchildren.”
