Irma Weiner Kaplan
Irma Weiner Kaplan of Springfield died Jan. 28, 2018.
As a young nurse, Mrs. Kaplan was in the Cadet Corps, and began her career at Newark Beth Israel Hospital. She went on to work in the Springfield schools, and then with her husband, Dr. Elliot Kaplan.
An education advocate, she went back to school and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing.
She volunteered at a hospice and served on the board of The Hearing Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail Schwartz and Donna (Sandy) McAdams; her son, Benjamin (Barbara); nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 2 with arrangements by Higgins and Bonner, Westfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Public Library or The Hearing Society, c/o Alice Knecht, 31 Redspire Drive, Union, N.J. 07083.
