Irwin Sobel, 92, of Livingston died March 13, 2020. He was born in Brooklyn and moved to Livingston in 1952.
Mr. Sobel owned a mirror manufacturing firm, Silver Troy Corporation in Belleville, for more than 50 years.
He was a Navy veteran who fought in World War II.
He was one of the founding members of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston. For many years he was active with his sons’ Little League teams, organized Cub Scout activities, and performed with local theater groups. In his later years he wrote and painted.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Phyllis; two sons, David and Mark; daughters-in-law Andrea and Wendy; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 15 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
