Isadore Goldberg

Isadore (“Izzy”) Goldberg, 89, of Pompano Beach, Fla., died Sept. 17, 2015. Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in Metuchen and in Florida for the past eight years. 

Mr. Goldberg was president of Jacob Goldberg & Son Scrap Iron & Metal in Perth Amboy. 

He graduated from Perth Amboy High School’s class of 1943 and Rutgers University in 1949. 

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was among the first American troops to enter Dachau.

He was a member of Highland Park Conservative Temple-Congregation Anshe Emeth. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sheila; three sons, David (Lisa) of Highland Park, Joshua of Old Bridge, and Eric (Brenda) of Downingtown, Pa.; two daughters, Jane (Alan) Lovich of East Brunswick and Lisa (Richard) Blumenfield of Ridgewood; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 20 with arrangements by Flynn and Son Funeral Home, Perth Amboy. Memorial contributions may be made to Chabad House at Rutgers University.
