Jack Kamin

Jack Kamin of Denver died Aug. 18, 2012. A former Union resident, he was born in Poland in 1921 and came to the United States in 1927.

Mr. Kamin worked as a salesman and manager of Wise Shoe Store in Newark. He later started his own business selling tools under the name of George Sales.

He graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark.

He joined the Army Air Corps and fought in Europe during World War II as a technical sergeant. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Jewish War Veterans.

He enjoyed entertaining in his retirement community as well as in nursing and veterans’ homes. He competed in the National Veterans’ Talent Shows and was awarded numerous medals.

Predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Shirley, in 2008, he is survived by his daughter, Sheri Kamin Lockhart, and his son, Marc, both of Denver; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 22 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Social Action Committee at Temple Micah, 2600 Leyden St., Denver, CO 80207.
