AN OPENING RECEPTION for three JCC MetroWest art exhibits on display in January and February will be held on Sunday, Jan. 12, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Leon & Toby Cooperman JCC in West Orange.

Susan Holford’s mixed-media pieces, which will be on display in Gaelen Gallery East, reflect her influences of thoughts, feelings, and ideas in an array of textures, shapes, and colors. Her “Mardi Gras AM Celebrations” was awarded Best in Show in the JCC’s 2019 Gaelen Juried Art Show.

Award-winning photographer Lori Abrams of Maplewood produces works that exhibit her deep interest in the natural world. Her “Neighborhood Under the City” was awarded Best in Photography at the 2019 Gaelen Juried Art Show. Her photographs will also be in Gaelen Gallery East.

Paintings by Felix Aarts, who lives and works in South Orange, will be exhibited in the JCC’s lower lobby. Aarts has had an extensive career dancing solo roles in the ballets of such choreographers as Balanchine, Bejart, and Nureyev. In 2013 he graduated with honors from Pratt Institute in New York with an MFA in painting. Aarts has exhibited his work throughout Europe and the United States.

The reception and exhibits are free; contact visual arts manager Lisa Suss at 973-530-3413 or lsuss@jccmetrowest.org.
