THE JCC OF Central NJ’s Barracudas swim team completed its 22nd season with some significant wins.

They bested 12 teams in the All-Star Invitational meet in December and were the Dual Meet winners in a competition Feb. 9 and the state champions on March 1.

“We are thrilled that we started the new decade with this success; the last time we won both the Dual Meet and states was in 2012,” said head coach Martina Varholova. “I am so proud of all of our swimmers.”

The team was comprised of some 120 swimmers coached by Varholova and six assistants.

“We take pride in encouraging our swimmers to work hard and always do their best,” she said. “We focus on teaching technique before speed. We are happy to say that has really paid off for us.”

The Barracudas will start forming their 2020-2021 team in the summer. A Meet the Coaches night is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 6-7 p.m.
