Jerome Shindelman
Jerome (Jerry) Herbert Shindelman, 84, of Monroe Township died Dec. 24, 2018. He was born in Newark.
Mr. Shindelman taught history at Arlington State College in Texas and Temple University in Philadelphia. He also worked at Middlesex County College for 41 years, where, among his roles, he taught history and served as dean of continuing education and department chair of history and social science.
He graduated from Rutgers University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history.
He started the Holocaust Center at Middlesex County College and was on the board of the former Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County (now Jewish Federation in the Heart of NJ), serving on its Holocaust and Education Committee.
He is survived by two sisters, Pat Lamatino and Marcia Trechak; nieces and nephews, Randi Bilinski; Rikki Field Shelley; Robert and Richard Kaplan; Eric, Philip, and Brad Trechak; and Judi Skalak; and many great-nieces and -nephews.
Services were held Dec. 30 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to Holocaust Center of Middlesex County College.
