Jewish Family Service of MetroWest held the Evening of Appreciation, its annual gala, on May 29 at Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park. More than $350,000 was raised to support JFSMW emergency response services to support the community in times of crisis. Mentalist Tom Pesce entertained.

JFSMW honored distinguished community members with awards for their time, support, generosity, and dedication to JFS. Their unwavering commitment allows JFS to respond quickly to our clients and community as emergencies arise.

Carol and Robert Marcus of Bloomingdale, formerly of Short Hills, earned the JFS Lifetime Philanthropy award; Stephen Weinstein of North Caldwell was the JFS Rising Star; the JFS Community Partner award was given to Sunrise ShopRite (Parsippany and North Caldwell) and Frank and Dara Sblendorio; and Jocelyn Thompson of Newark was the JFS Maxine Myers Volunteer Services awardee.

Jessica Gantman and Emily Neider, both of Short Hills, were the program co-chairs. Their committee included Andrea G. Bier, Thelma Florin, and Steven J. Glass, all of West Orange; Pamela Davis, Pam Fishman, Lynn Gruber, Carrie Nussbaum, Sandi Rosenbaum, and Rachel Goodman Wilf, all of Short Hills; Terri Friedman, Linda Jacobs, and Lisa Lindauer, all of Livingston; and Robin Polson of Maplewood.
