Joan Finkel-Abrams
Joan Finkel-Abrams, 87, of Somerset died May 13, 2020. Born in Newark, she resided in North Plainfield; Livingston; Raleigh, N.C.; and Edison before moving to Somerset four years ago.
Ms. Finkel-Abrams worked as a history teacher in North Carolina and then as an administrator for Catholic Charities in New Jersey, retiring 20 years ago.
She earned a B.A. degree from North Carolina State University.
She was a member of Temple Emanu-El in Westfield for many years.
Predeceased by her husband, Herman Abrams; her son, Howard Finkel; and her daughter, Janet Finkel, she is survived by two stepsons, Clark (Tara) Abrams and Lowell (Mary) Abrams; three brothers, Jerry Katz, David Katz, and Stephen Katz; and two step-grandchildren; she was also predeceased by her former husband, Alan Finkel.
Graveside services were held May 17 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
