Joseph J. Rothman

Joseph J. Rothman, 92, of Lake Worth, Fla., died April 26, 2011. Born in Liberty, NY, he lived in Brooklyn, Metuchen, Highland Park, and Wellington, Fla., before moving to Lake Worth.

Mr. Rothman operated a manufacturing and retail ladies’ coat business, Molded Fashions in Fords, for more than 60 years with his late brother, Meyer.

He spent five years serving in the U.S. Army, first in the Military Police before being promoted to First Sergeant. Serving on the front lines in World War II, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart medal.

He served as vice president of Congregation Neve Shalom, Metuchen, and was a member of the Highland Park Conservative Temple-Congregation Anshe Emeth.

He was a member of the Greenacres Country Club for 15 years.

Predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Levine Rothman, he is survived by his daughter, Donna Tehel of Langhorne, Pa.; his son, Glenn of Wellesley, Mass.; his sister, Dorothy Gotlieb of Old Bridge; his brother, Abraham of Boca Raton, Fla.; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

Services were held April 29 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to Greenwood House, Ewing.
