L Richard Wolff
L Richard Wolff, 82, of Metuchen died April 4, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, he was raised in Elkins Park, Pa., and lived in New York City before moving to Metuchen 48 years ago.
Mr. Wolff was the co-founder/owner/operator of RPJ Sportswear. He created several brands of large-size women’s clothing, including Topnotch Sportswear.
He graduated in 1956 from Amherst College.
He joined the Air Force as an officer, became a pilot, and served in Intelligence, while stationed in Morocco.
He enjoyed flying small planes for many years.
Among his many philanthropic endeavors, he was a founding member and builder of Temple Emanu-El in Edison and served as president of Jewish Federation of Middlesex County from 2003 to 2005. He was also involved with Hillel.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nickie (“Shirley”); three daughters, Jamie Wolff, Cynthia Wolff, and Lisa (David) Hyman; his son, Adam (Angela); and six grandchildren.
Services were held April 5 with arrangements by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Edison. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Emanu-El capital campaign or Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey.
