Laurence H. Miller

Laurence H. Miller, 83, of Potomac, Md., died July 6, 2018. He was born and raised in Newark.

Dr. Miller served two years with the U.S. Public Health Service and was affiliated with the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md., for 29 years, becoming the director of the Department of Environmental and Metabolic Diseases. He maintained a private practice of dermatology in Chevy Chase, Md., until his retirement. He served for many years on the medical advisory board of the organization DEBRA.

He graduated from West Side High School, Newark; Muhlenberg College; and the Faculty of Medicine of Lausanne, Switzerland. After an internship at Newark Beth Israel Hospital he did a residency in dermatology at Bellevue Medical Center in New York.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leslie Markensohn Miller, formerly of South Orange; two sons, Ken of Phoenix and Scott of Rockville, Md.; two brothers, Charles of Lake Worth, Fla., and Robert of Fayetteville, N.C.; and five granddaughters.

Services were held July 9 with arrangements by Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care, Inc.
