Lawrence Zegas
Lawrence Harold Zegas, 86, of Lakewood died March 13, 2011. Born and raised in Newark, he lived in Nutley and Colonia before moving to Lakewood in 1996.
Mr. Zegas had a long career in the liquor industry. He was a salesman and sales supervisor with Jaydor in Millburn prior to retiring in 1994.
He graduated from Barringer High School, Newark, and Rutgers University-Newark with a degree in business administration.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he participated in the invasion of Normandy and was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He was a member of the former Temple Beth Am of Colonia and served as its men’s club president.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sondra; three daughters, Mindy Shedler of Princeton Junction, Robin Genna of Princeton Junction, and Stephanie Siegel of Yardley, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
Services were held March 15 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Lakewood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society or Deborah Heart and Lung Center.
