Leo Tzeses
Leo Tzeses, 93, died Dec. 14, 2011. Born in Newark, he was a longtime resident of South Orange before moving to Basking Ridge in 1988.
During World War II Mr. Tzeses managed an aircraft manufacturing facility. Afterward, he went into the residential construction business with his father and then had his own construction and property management company.
He was a graduate of Weequahic High School, Newark, and Lehigh University.
He was a member of the fraternal order of Masons and The Village Club of South Orange. He was a longtime member of Twin Brooks Country Club.
He served as president of Congregation Beth El of South Orange from 1974 to 1976. He was also a founding member of Congregation B’nai Israel, Basking Ridge.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sylvia (Laventhal); his son, Mark of Wyndmoor, Pa.; two daughters, Margery Ackerman of New York City and Barbara Lerner of Livingston; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 18 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
