Lester Gerber

Lester L. Gerber, 94, of Long Branch died March 3, 2015. Born in Newark, he settled in Monmouth Beach and then in Elberon, where he resided for 56 years.

Mr. Gerber owned the Blue Ribbon Meat Market in Long Branch for 30 years. 

He graduated from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School in 1942. 

He was a veteran of World War II. 

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; four sons, Bud (Ann) of Valle Crucis, NC, Gary (Marilen) of Ottawa, Ontario, Jason (Laura) of Ringwood, and Ethan of Scranton, Pa.; two daughters, Tammy (Martin) Hays of Santa Clara, Calif., and Lesley (Michael) Sweeney of Howell; a sister, Hedda Batwin of Stamford, Conn.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. 

Services were held March 6 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapel, Ocean.
