Lillian Ostrin (Shulman), 94, a longtime Livingston resident, died July 24, 2020. Born in New York City, her family moved to New Jersey when she was a toddler and she grew up in Irvington and Newark. She moved to Livingston in 1969.
Mrs. Ostrin worked as a school psychologist for Harding School in Kenilworth.
She graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark. She put herself through night school at Rutgers University, and later earned a graduate degree to become a school psychologist, studying part-time when her children were young.
As a young married woman, she was president of her local chapter of the League of Women Voters, and a devoted supporter of Israel. Later, she was active at the Livingston Senior Center and enjoyed travelling and reading.
Predeceased in 2013 by her husband, Solomon, she is survived by two daughters, Elaine Smith of Toronto and Lynn (Uri) Sharon of Rehovot, Israel; and two grandchildren.
