Lillian Szklarczyk
Lillian Szklarczyk (Greenberger), 85, of Denville died July 4, 2016. She was born in the Bronx and moved to Denville in 1958.
Dr. Szklarczyk taught French at Montclair State University for 48 years. She wrote several books on phonetics, one of which is still in use at the university, Le Monde a L’Oreille.
After receiving her MA from Middlebury College, she went on to study in Paris for several years with French experts in phonetics. She completed her PhD at the University of Pennsylvania in 1961.
Predeceased by her husband, Max, in 2014, she is survived by a sister, Barbara Birnbaum of Portland, Ore.; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Services were held July 6 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to Montclair State University.
