Gregory Smith, a senior at Hopatcong High School, composed a musical piece called “Sledding.” The Hanover Wind Symphony premiered that piece as part of its “Children’s Dreams” concert last month at Memorial Junior School in Whippany.

Among those performing in the symphony were Renee Sachs and Laurel Cousineau. Ms. Sachs, a member of the Hanover Wind Symphony since its founding in 1985, has been a member of Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell for 44 years.

According to Mr. Smith, “Sledding” evokes memories of being a child, racing down a snow-covered hill on your favorite sled, and making your fondest childhood dreams come true.
