Although many people don’t realize it, shelters and for organizations that support women in need always need undergarments. Last week, congregants at Livingston’s Temple B’nai Abraham sorted and packed 450 laundered and bagged gently used bras. It was the shul’s Mitzvah of the Month, “Support the Girls! Donate a Bra!”

The session was chaired by Tara Heyderman and supported by TBA’s Women’s Connection Social Action Committee and Sisterhood. Bra Mobile and Sitting Pretty Intimates Both donated bras from their stock, and congregants and friends contributed as well.

The collection of mastectomy, sports, nursing, and regular bras were donated to the Isaiah House and Joi’s Angels, both in East Orange. They will be distributed to their clients, many of whom are homeless, fleeing domestic violence and human trafficking, undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, and as well as to other people who find themselves unable to afford the garments.
