Livingston’s Mikvah Chana is renovated
On July 28, 30 women toured Mikvah Chana to gain a deeper understanding of the tradition of mikvah. A brunch preceded a tour of the upgraded and renovated rooms, made possibly by generous donations. This year, two of the preparation rooms and the mikvah room were fully renovated and the mikvah now looks like a spa. Its private preparation rooms have marble flooring, showers, bathtubs, and chandeliers. When she enters, a woman is provided with essentials, including towels, disposable slippers, robes, soap, shampoo, and toiletries. After preparation, each woman enters the mikvah room. During immersion in the warm water, they use the moment to pray for personal blessings and blessings for the world.
For thousands of years, Jewish women have observed the ritual of mikvah, creating a bond across generations. Immersion in a mikvah, a special pool built according to Jewish law and connected to natural water, is a mitzvah and an essential part of the laws of Jewish family purity.
