Shlomo Amar, Jerusalem’s chief rabbi, and Gilad Erdan, who is both Israel’s ambassador to the United States and its representative at the United Nations, exchanged blessings and greetings on June 13, at the ohel (grave) of the Lubavitcher rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, in Queens. The meeting was coordinated by Rabbis Yosef and Mendy Carlebach of the Chabad House in New Brunswick. They were joined by Chabad’s special project director, Rabbi Mendy Pevzner, and Rabbi Leibel Schapiro, the director of Chabad of the Shore.

The group joined more than 25,000 people who came to commemorate Rebbe Schneerson’s yahrzeit, on the third day of Tammuz.
