Local Support for Israel

: Yuval Donio-Gideon, the consul for public diplomacy at the Israeli consulate in New York, describes the horrors of the surprise attack on Israel to the 2,200 people who attended the rally at Temple B’nai Jeshurun.

: Dov Ben-Shimon, executive vice president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, addresses the community gathering in solidarity with Israel and the support coming from the federation.

: U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ D-Dist. 11) emphasized her support for Israel at the solidarity gathering and talked about a trip she took there. She described a meeting with a mother on a kibbutz, who told her about bringing her child to day care, then feeling afraid when she heard air raid sirens go off.

: NJ Attorney General Matt Platkin told the crowd at the October 8 rally that while there is no specific threat to synagogues, in an abundance of caution, NJ law enforcement was deploying additional security at houses of worship that possibly could be targets of terrorism.

Some 2,200 people stand in solidarity with Israel during a community gathering organized by the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ. The rally, held Sunday night, October 8, at Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, was attended by many political leaders and dozens of clergy members from synagogues in Essex, Morris, Union, Sussex, and Middlesex counties that are part of the Greater MetroWest region.
