Lola Oremland
Lola Grace Robins Oremland, 101, of Cresskill died Dec. 7, 2018. Born in New York City, she also had lived in Newark, Verona, and West Orange.
During World War II Mrs. Oremland was employed by the Prudential Company. She was a Red Cross volunteer nurses’ aide at Beth Israel Hospital and a volunteer hostess at the Stage Door Canteen in Newark.
She graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, The Newark School of Fine Arts, and New York School of Interior Design. She also attended New York University’s School of Drama. In her teens, she acted with the Newark Little Theater and was in many shows at the Newark “Y” on High Street.
She volunteered as a Boy Scout den mother and a Girl Scout mother. She was an active volunteer and life member of Hadassah and National Council of Jewish Women. She was also a member of Brandeis, Congregation Beth Ahm of Verona, and Temple Emanu-El of Closter.
In her 50s she graduated from New York School of Design and was a decorator for Lord & Taylor in Millburn. In her mid-80s she became a docent at Montclair Museum of Art.
Predeceased by her husband, Bernard, she is survived by her daughter, Debra Oremland Sinensky (Arthur Sinensky); two sons, Stuart (Joanne Donsky Oremland) and David; and three grandsons.
Services were held Dec. 9 with arrangements by Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, Hackensack.
