Marcel Bollag
Marcel Bollag, 92, of North Caldwell died Jan. 7, 2013. Born in Zurich, Switzerland, he immigrated to New York at the age of 19.
Mr. Bollag owned several businesses and founded Lux Homes Inc. in 1954. In 1956 he started the franchise for Pella Windows and Doors in Newark.
He enlisted in the Armed Forces as a paratrooper and interrogator in the 82nd Airborne Division, earning a Purple Heart.
A philanthropist who supported many organizations, he was especially devoted to Sdei Chemed, a school for children in Israel that was founded by his father.
Predeceased by his wife, Anita, he is survived by two daughters, Carol (David) Sidman and Jacki (Rick) Guber; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 9 at Temple Sholom, Cedar Grove, with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to American Friends of Sdei Chemed Children’s Village, c/o David Friedman, 80 Broad St., 29th floor, New York, NY 10001; or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
