Marilyn Kaplowitz

Marilyn Kaplowitz (O’Desky), 86, of Springfield died Nov. 17, 2014. Born in Newark, she lived in Hillside before moving to Springfield in 1975. 

Mrs. Kaplowitz was known as “Mrs. K.” at the Rabbi Barry H. Greene Early Childhood Center at Temple B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills, where she was a preschool teacher for 30 years before retiring. She also served as office administrator for the temple’s Camp TBJ, and was director of the Early Childhood Program at Brooklake Day Camp in Florham Park for many years.

She earned a BA in early childhood education and library science from Kean University in 1976. 

She was a member of ORT in Hillside. 

Predeceased by her husband, Abraham, she is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Sheldon) Salkovitch of Springfield and Susan (Ed) O’Brien of Winter Springs, Fla.; her son, Ray of Kingston, NY; a sister, Linda Daly of New York City; and three grandsons. 

Services were held Nov. 20 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
