Marion Plotkin
Marion Plotkin (Posnock) of Lakewood died May 31, 2016. She was born in Elizabeth and lived in Linden most of her life.
She attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and graduated from New York University with a BS in drama and education.
Mrs. Plotkin taught language arts and was a reading specialist, a grant writer, and directed publicity for the Linden school system for 22 years. She also served for three years as teacher/director of Rahway’s Head Start summer program.
She was founding member and director of the Merck Circle Players in Rahway, where she directed and starred in over 30 productions. After retiring, she was an adjunct professor at Kean University, where she supervised student teachers. After moving to Lakewood, she taught acting, started a children’s theater group in Ocean County, and was editor-in-chief of her community newsletter.
Predeceased by her husband, Robert, she is survived by her son, Owen (Shawn) of Westfield; a sister, Anita Lewen Custen of Florida; and two grandchildren.
Services were June 2 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
