Martin Stern
Martin Stern, 85, of Springfield died Oct. 1, 2010. Born in Czechoslovakia, he lived in Union before moving to Springfield in 2001.
Mr. Stern was the owner and operator of Tabatchnick’s, Springfield, for over 30 years, retiring in 2000.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during peacetime.
Mr. Stern was a member of the B’nai B’rith men’s club in Union and Cafe Europa, a Holocaust survivors’ organization. He was active at Temple Israel of Union and Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael of Springfield.
He is survived by his wife, Kate (Schwartz); two daughters, Barbara Forshner of Plainsboro and Leslie Kaufman of Scotch Plains; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 3 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael.
