Marvin Lax
Marvin William Lax, 70, of Pawtucket, R.I., died Dec. 17, 2017. Born in Newark, he grew up in Maplewood and was a longtime resident of Pawtucket.
Mr. Lax was in the financial planning industry for over 45 years, retiring in 2015.
He graduated from Columbia High School, Maplewood. He earned his B.A. from Roger Williams College.
He was a member of Temple Beth-El, Providence, R.I., and its brotherhood and bowling league. He was a member of Touro Fraternal Association, Redwood Lodge of the Masons and its softball league, and B’nai B’rith, in which he was very active. He was an avid tennis and golf player.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rhonda (Matzner); his son, Ryan Alan (Margaret) of Hope, R.I.; two sisters, Renée Phon of West Orange and Hinda Berger of Lake Worth, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 20 with arrangements by Shalom Memorial Chapel, Cranston, R.I. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
