Mary Wenger Orlans
Mary Louise Wenger Orlans, 76, of Hopatcong, formerly of Parsippany, died Dec. 29, 2014. She was born in Des Allemands, La., and also had lived in Biloxi, Miss.
Mrs. Orlans worked as a pediatric staff nurse at Oschner Hospital, New Orleans, and then joined the U.S. Public Health Service, serving in Bethel, Alaska, for two years. Afterward she joined the teaching staff at Gulfport Junior College, Mississippi, as a nursing instructor. After her marriage, she became a nursing instructor on the staff of East Orange General Hospital School of Nursing. She was also employed as a visiting nurse for the VNA of Morris County and ended her lengthy nursing career as a school nurse for a total of 18 years in Mountain Lakes and then Orange.
She graduated with a BSN from Goshen College, Indiana, in June 1960.
She is survived by her husband, Laurence; twin daughters, Allison (Jonathan) Fichter and Michelle (Richard) Rosenfeld; a brother, John Wenger; and five grandchildren.
Private services were held with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Denville.
