Maxine Altman
Maxine Altman (Stern), 71, of Rockaway, died March 3, 2013. Born in Newark and raised in Brooklyn, she lived in White Meadow Lake for 42 years.
Mrs. Altman began her career at Downstate Medical Center as a histologist and later worked at Polaner as a microbiologist. She then took a position at AT&T as an engineering associate and section chief.
She graduated with high honors in biology from Brooklyn College.
She was the program chair for the sisterhood of White Meadow Temple, Rockaway, and was also a member of Temple Shalom, Succasunna.
She is survived by her husband, Ira; her son, Art (Cara); her daughter, Lesley (John) Livingston; two sisters, Robin Briggs and Marcelle Kaplan; and five grandchildren.
Services were held March 5 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Shalom.
