May lineup for JCC MetroWest program
Theater historian John Kenrick will look back on his half century of cheering for hits and cringing through flops on Broadway for a JCC MetroWest Life Long Learning program on Wednesday, May 1, at 1 p.m. On Monday, May 6, at 1 p.m., the JCC offers a Yom HaShoah program with Meryl Frank, “Unearthed: A Lost Actress, a Forbidden Book, and a Search for Life in the Shadow of the Holocaust.” It’s the story of Meryl Frank’s search for her cousin Franya and a timely history of hatred and resistance. Ms. Frank, activist, has been a Highland Park mayor and an ambassador to the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women. She is on the board of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.
Stuart Weinstock, the director of the NJ Jewish Film Festival and the year-round J-Films programming at the JCC, will discuss “Humor as Resistance in Holocaust Cinema” on Wednesday, May 29, at 1 p.m. Films to be discussed include “To Be or Not to Be,” “The Great Dictator,” “The Producers,” “Life is Beautiful,” and “Jojo Rabbit.”
