Melvin Goldberg

Melvin (“Mel”) S. Goldberg, 83, of West Orange died Sept. 23, 2018. He lived in Newark as a child before moving to Hillside. After his marriage he lived in Newark and then Hillside and Clark before moving to West Orange 15 years ago.

Mr. Goldberg began his career in finance in 1962 at Factors and Note Buyers in Newark; in 1984, he started his own business, Crown Financial Corp., which he ran with his wife until their retirement. He was also a licensed real estate broker with his wife; together they opened Imperial Realty Inc.

He graduated from Hillside High School and earned an associate’s degree from Pace College.

He was a member of the Freemasons for 50 years. He was president of the board of directors of the Woodlands Condo Association for four years.

He is survived by his wife, Judy (Weisman); two daughters, Lori Gevarter and Gail (Harry) Hunter; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 26 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or American Stroke Foundation.
