Michael J. Komishane
Michael J. Komishane, 76, of Ewing Township died May 8, 2014. Born and raised in Newark, he resided in South Orange, Basking Ridge, and Plainsboro, before moving to Greenwood House in Ewing in 2009.
He graduated Irvington High School in Irvington, where he was a member of the high school swim team. He earned a BS from the University of Pennsylvania, where he played junior varsity football and was an active member of Phi Sigma Delta. He went on to obtain his RPh from Rutgers College of Pharmacy in Newark.
Prior to retiring in 2000, Mr. Komishane was a pharmacist and owner of Komishane’s Pharmacy in Vailsburg and Boro Drugs in Kenilworth.
He loved horses and rode frequently at the Lord Stirling Stables in Basking Ridge. Up until a year ago he would ride at Riding High Farm in Allentown.
Predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Linda Canter Komishane, he is survived by a son, Harris (Lauren) of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass.; two daughters, Stacey (Michael) Mann of Lawrenceville and Cathy (Scott) Richman of Missoula, Mt.; and 10 grandchildren, Steven, Jonathan, and Dylan Mann; Landon, Walter (Dewey), Coleman, and Carson Komishane; and Louis, Jacob, and William Richman.
Services were held May 12 with arrangements made by the Goldstein Funeral Chapel in Edison. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Greenwood House, The Refurbishing Project, 53 Walter St, Ewing, NJ, 08628, or greenwoodhouse.org.
