Michael Markowitz
Dr. Michael D. Markowitz, 73, of Hopatcong died Feb. 20, 2014. Born in Newark, he lived in Hillside and then West Orange before moving to Hopatcong 14 years ago.
Dr. Markowitz had been in partnership with Dr. Burton Levine in West Orange for many years.
A graduate of Hamilton College, Clinton, NY, and New Jersey College of Medicine, he was licensed to practice medicine in both New Jersey and New York.
He was a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and American College of Cardiology.
He served as a major in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Larry and Steven (Kate); his daughter, Carolyn (Rich) Resnick; a sister, Paula Rozan; a brother, Allan Markowitz; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 23 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
