Michael Posnock

Michael Posnock, 81, of Belmar died June 30, 2011. Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Linden before moving to Belmar 14 years ago.

Mr. Posnock was a self-employed lawyer for 57 years, serving as attorney for the Linden Board of Education, Linden Police Athletic League, and Linden Insurance Commission. He also served as president of the board of education of the Union County Vocational Technical School. He was the founder, president, dean of students, and instructor at the Institute of Paralegal Studies, Inc., in Linden from 1978 to the present.

He was also an author whose children’s book, Wilbur the Wave, will be published shortly.

He was a graduate of Syracuse University and received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School.

He was a member of Congregation Anshe Chesed in Linden and served as its president for two years. He served as president of the Kiwanis Club in Linden, as regional representative for student recruitment at Syracuse University, and as coach of three championship baseball teams in the Pee Wee and Little Leagues of Linden.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey (Blumenfeld); three daughters, Leslie of Ocean Township, Ilene of Harrisburg, Pa., and Susan of New York City; a son, Stephen of Florham Park; two sisters, Anita Custen of Palm City, Fla., and Marion Plotkin of Lakewood; and six granddaughters.

Services were held July 3 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean.
