Mildred Marcy Levine
Mildred Marcy Levine, 89, of Whippany died Oct. 8, 2010. She lived in Irvington and East Orange before relocating to Aventura, Fla., and then Whippany nine years ago.
Ms. Levine managed her father’s wallpaper and paint business and ran the decorating division.
A graduate of Weequahic High School, she received a full scholarship to study voice and opera at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. She also sang as part of a chorus with Cantor Jan Peerce at Radio City Music Hall. She was also an accomplished artist who won many awards for her oil paintings.
She was a past president of B’nai B’rith in Newark, and a former member of Temple Sharey Tefilo in East Orange.
Predeceased by her grandson Harris Cohen, she is survived by three daughters, Elaine Cohen of Florham Park, Ava Kordansky of West Hartford, Conn., and Paula Pellet of Springfield; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 10 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harris Scott Cohen Memorial Fund, c/o Synagogue of the Suburban Torah Center, Livingston; or the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Fund.
