Mildred “Mimi” Daley
Mildred “Mimi” Daley (Tunkel), 94, of Clifton died July 15, 2016. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she lived in San Diego during World War II and in Queens before moving to Clifton in 1951.
Mrs. Daley became a social worker for the Passaic County Board of Social Services in the 1970s, helping working families who were struggling financially.
She attended Brooklyn College.
Beginning in the 1950s and ’60s, she was a Brownie leader, Cub Scout den mother, PTA activist, and volunteer for the March of Dimes Mothers March, the sisterhood of Clifton Jewish Center, and Women’s American ORT.
As a cancer survivor in the ’80s, she became a volunteer at Passaic Beth Israel Hospital and served for 15 years. She was a patron of the opera and ballet.
Predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Horace S., in 1979, she is survived by her daughter, Beverly of Los Angeles; two sons, Drew (Carol) of South River and Robert of Millburn; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were held July 17 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton.
