Millard Spialter
Millard Spialter of Westfield died Feb. 27, 2012.
Dr. Spialter was the owner of Progressive Manufacturing Company in Newark from 1961 until his retirement in 2001.
He held a PhD in engineering from Newark College of Engineering (now New Jersey Institute of Technology), where he also earned BS and MS degrees, as well as an MS from Brooklyn Polytech.
He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1945 and attained the rank of ensign.
He was a member of Zionist Organization of America, the NJIT Alumni Association, the men’s club of Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah in Clark, B’nai B’rith of Union, Jewish War Veterans’ Elin Ungar Post 273, United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism, and the NJ Society of Engineers. He was a life member of Hadassah.
Predeceased by his wife, Sydell (Lampert), he is survived by two sons, Howard of Westfield and Daniel of Ra’anana, Israel; a brother, Leonard; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 28 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
