Milton Peskin

Milton Peskin of Whippany died May 21, 2013. Born in Newark, he lived in Millburn for many years before moving to West Orange and then Whippany four years ago.

Mr. Peskin was the co-owner of S. Peskin and Company, a hardware and appliance store in Newark for over 50 years, retiring in 2008. He was also an accountant.

He earned a BS in accounting from Rutgers University’s Queens College in New Brunswick and an MBA from New York University.

A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator in the Rhineland and Central Europe and received the Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the American and EAME theater ribbons.

As a young man he was active in one of the Newark chapters of the Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) group of B’nai B’rith Youth Organization.

Predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Anne (Zaker), he is survived by his son, Stanley of Roseland; two daughters, Elaine Weiss of Berkeley Heights and Sandra Peskin of Tigard, Ore.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 23 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Chatham.
