Miriam Schlank

Miriam Kent Schlank, 88, of Tampa, Fla., died July 19, 2013. Born in Newark, she resided there for many years before moving to West Orange and later Boynton Beach, Fla.

Mrs. Schlank was employed as a sales associate at Bamberger’s and Ohrbach’s before her marriage.

She was a graduate of Weequahic High School in Newark and Drake College of Business.

While raising her family, she was active in the Cub Scouts as a den leader; in the Brownies as a troop leader; in the PTA; at the Redwood Elementary School (West Orange) library, and in REGM for Cancer Research. She later became involved in National Council of Jewish Women.

Predeceased by her husband, Edwin M., she is survived by her son, Myles Schlank (Selene) of Pflugerville, Texas; two daughters, Ellen (Tom) Schlank of Nutley and Fran Kent (Cheryl Austin) of Tampa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held July 24 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Lifepath Hospice of Tampa.
